The 21st CCLC before/after school programs are federally funded programs designed to serve students throughout the state of New Mexico.
These federal grants are offered to schools that serve high-poverty areas.
YDI is the selected provider for 8 programs within the Albuquerque Public Schools District. The school sites served are Jimmy Carter MS, John Adams MS, Wherry ES, SR Marmon ES, Lowell ES, Kennedy MS, McKinley MS, and Lavaland ES. The primary focus of these FREE programs is to improve student academic achievement, school attendance, motivation towards learning, and to provide child care for families who need it. This is achieved through academic tutoring programs as well as academic enrichment programs. Key enrichment activities include, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) based materials and curriculum as well as sports, games, dance, photography, videography, etc.
A secondary focus is increasing family engagement. We offer many parent classes such as GED, Family Literacy and ESL as well as assist the schools to become more family-friendly and to have a community-wide focus. We try to bring in outside organizations and businesses to assist in the work of removing barriers to learning by providing support for a variety of areas that families and students need.
Gains are measured through student, parent and classroom teacher surveys, as well as through New Mexico Standards Based Assessment and APS Short Cycle assessments.
Please contact YDI 212-7429 or the 21st CCLC Site Coordinator at a particular school site to enroll a student.
