Through the New Mexico Workforce Connection, YDI operates the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act program (WIOA) in the Central Region of New Mexico; Bernalillo, Sandoval, Valencia, and Torrance counties.
YDI staff are located in each county in the One-Stop office developed by the Workforce Connection of Central New Mexico (WCCNM) and the Central Region governing board of WIOA. YDI is co-located with other WIOA providers including the New Mexico Department of Labor, Job Corps, ABE, TANF, and many more.
The WIOA youth program operates year-round providing services to in-school youth and out-of-school youth ages 14-24. Each One-Stop is designed around the 14 WIOA elements for youth. These services are alternative education, drop-out prevention, leadership, summer employment, guidance and counseling, work experience, supportive services, adult mentoring, occupational skills training and follow-up. Programming at each site also incorporates current economic and employment trends specific to each county’s facility.
In addition to operating the WIOA elements, YDI also leverages its existing agency programs and program services to ensure that other essential wrap-around services for youth are also accessible to clients throughout the four-county area as needed.
